A groundbreaking cultural experiment, Sindhu Sound System is where Pakistan’s ancient folk rhythms meet the global pulse of contemporary electronic dance music. Developed as a UK–Pakistan collaboration, the project brings together over 35 indigenous musicians from across Pakistan with leading music producers from the UK. Rooted in the pluralistic and ecologically conscious traditions of the Indus River (Sindhu) region, the project culminates in a series of theatrical performances, studio recordings, and a feature-length documentary — connecting rural musical legacies with global sound system culture. From Karachi to Birmingham, Sindhu Sound System reimagines folk music not as a relic, but as a living, evolving force. It also hosts the first-ever Sindhu Folk Music Conference, tackling the pressing issues faced by Pakistan’s folk artists today — from climate change and cultural erasure to lack of royalties and global representation. This festival isn’t just a performance — it’s a movement for preservation, innovation, and shared artistic futures.
